Sage's Story

Sage's China

Psalm 126:2,3

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy!  Then it was said among the nations, the Lord has done Great things for them.  The Lord has done GREAT things for us and we are filled with JOY!

Chen Yi Qiao  To be Sage ChenYi Mae Laxton.  Mae was my grandma Dotties middle name so she is named for her.  She was born November 20th,2005.

On Monday June 26th, after waiting for over a year, we received the phone call that would change our lives forever!  Janiece our Social worker called and said "Your referral is here!"  We did not want any information over the phone, so we went into the office.  It was a VERY long drive!  The kids were with us and as we walked down the hallway at CHI the whole china team was there waiting!  They showed us the picture, and one look we knew.  All the days of waiting and crying and praying and BEGGING God to hurry up, were over.  He delivered our daughter.  One little picture, and we were in love.  I was filled with joy, and i was full of peace.  It all made sense, and she was worth every tear, every single minute of that wait.

When we saw her birthday it was one big confirmation.  In April 2005, right after we started the adoption, Mark bought me a mothers ring for my 30th birthday.  It had one spot left for Sage.  At the time it had a stone in it that they said they could replace with her birthstone once we knew.  Well just so happens, it was a NOVEMBER birthstone!  I have been wearing her stone the ENTIRE year!  Before she was even born, she was in my ring.

Her birthday is November 20th.  Our LID was June 20th, so the 20th has been a HUGE date in our hearts this past year.

She was probably "conceived" right about the time we signed our adoption agreement.  We prayed faithfully for our daughter from that first day we made the decision.  Who knew we were actually "praying her into life".
